August Update from our Executive Director
Dear Neighbors,
Summertime, particularly in our state of Michigan, is a time of year when we engage in several activities like travel, vacation, outdoor recreation, and more. But for those suffering from issues of addiction, the levels of activities around substance use increase as well. This is the time of year our Men’s Ministry Center encounters a greater need for those seeking a clean and sober life. I recall one man who came to us, broken from his alcoholism. His name is Jeff.
Jeff was an ex-Marine who served in the first Gulf War—Desert Storm. During his enlistment, he traveled to many parts of the world including Iraq, Africa, Japan, and several states here in the US. Since his discharge, he has struggled with the demands of the world. This has led him to serious and prolonged suffering from alcoholism.
I remember when Jeff arrived at our doors, he was a broken man desperate for healing. During his time with us, he discovered and embraced the life-transforming power of Christ’s love for him. Not only did Jeff find healing for his brokenness and freedom from his bondage to alcohol, but he also became a sponge soaking in every blessing God saturated him with. With the help of Neighbors of Hope, Jeff discovered his purpose and true identity as a beloved son of God.
I pray that during these months of summer when donations are down, and the need is up you will continue to help us help men like Jeff. Won’t you please make a generous donation today? Your contribution will make a difference in someone’s life. Thank you and God bless.
In Service to Christ,
Pastor Steven Palmer
