January Update from our Executive Director
Dear Neighbors,
The New Year has come and gone, but the suffering of many in our community continues. Many of these are men who are depleted of hope, some are trapped by addiction and most find themselves discouraged, surrendering to their fate. They are hungry and homeless desperately longing for help and healing. The plight of these men who are hungry and without a home can be both lonely and difficult. Where does a man go when he has lost everything, including his hope? Many come to Neighbors of Hope – a Christ-centered community where brokenness is confronted compassionately with the radical hospitality of Jesus. Here they find daily the love, hope, and restoration needed to overcome their fears by faith.
One such man who has found hope resurrected and the promise of new life is Richard, who shares:
“Prior to coming to Neighbors of Hope, my life was a wreck. Drugs and the thug life had destroyed me. I was arrested several times. I lost my relationship with my wife and my family. Now, I believe Jesus brought me here to open my heart spiritually and take me on a journey greater than anything the world can provide. I also believe that God’s work in my life is restoring my relationship with my family and making me a better person who can now celebrate the life God has blessed me with. I no longer see myself with contempt. Now I know I am a beloved son of God—a man forgiven. Now I have a purpose for my life.”
That quote from Richard is from nearly five years ago. Now Richard serves as the Residence Manager at our Men’s Ministry Center. Your partnership with this ministry is vital if we are to continue to shine the light of hope to our hurting neighbors like Richard in this community this new year. Will you please help by giving a generous donation today? Thank you and God bless you for caring.
In Service to Christ,
Pastor Steven Palmer
