June update from Executive Director
Dear Neighbors,
I’m writing because we have a real need for funds this month. With the current economic uncertainties permeating our country, donations are dropping off rapidly for us. And for a Christ-centered nonprofit that receives no government funding for our operations, this is concerning. Perhaps you have even heard that we recently had to make a hard and sad decision to close our Women & Children’s Ministry because we can no longer sustain the cost to operate it. Yet the need for the Gospel-driven life transformative work we do continues.
Later this month we hope to re-open our Men’s Ministry. This is our flagship ministry, providing men experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction the hope of the Gospel and a pathway to sustainable employment and housing. Without it, we would see more men sleeping on park benches, in cars, in abandoned buildings, or even in the woods. And Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry is anticipating an increased need as the school year ends and how hard it is on many children who miss out on school meals and stay home with little or no food in the house.
We have to help all we can. The government cannot support this Gospel-driven, life-transformative work we do. But we’re very glad you do. With your help, we will provide hundreds of meals and nights of shelter this summer. Many will be relieved and find the strength they need. But our prayers go beyond that. We ask God to use each of these kind acts to show the needy that Jesus loves them. His love and yours are enough to make it through the struggles of life. Thank you for sharing in this heart-lifting work.
Please help as much as you can. You are a blessing to us and all who come here with rarely more than hope and a prayer. Please remember us this summer. Those whom we serve Jesus amongst need you. Thank you.
Serving Christ,
Pastor Steven Palmer
